HOLOSS Hosts Conference on Gender & Ethics in Research and Innovation

On October 15th, HOLOSS had the pleasure of hosting an online conference focusing on the critical dimensions of Gender and Ethics. This event offered significant insights into these essential aspects and their association with Research and Innovation (R&I).

Gender and ethics are crucial for the holistic development of research endeavors in today’s evolving landscape. The conference explored themes such as how integrating gender and ethics dimensions promotes an inclusive, equal, and ethically sound culture within Horizon Europe and the broader R&I community.

The event highlighted the lack of representation in leadership roles and the ethical dilemmas tied to the tech sector—aspects that need to be addressed and not replicated. Without diverse voices and strong ethical conduct, there is a risk of building technologies that reinforce existing biases and undermine research quality. As we advance in the technological field, we must maintain our commitment to gender-sensitive research and uphold ethical principles to ensure positive impact.

HOLOSS encourages all stakeholders to work together to advance diversity, equality, and transparency in the pursuit of groundbreaking discoveries and positive social outcomes.

Highlights from the Gender & Ethics Conference

Gender Dimension: The conference explored aspects of sex, gender, equality, and intersectionality in research. Gender Equality Plans within Horizon Europe were discussed, along with insights into the DMaaST project—did you know that women hold more leadership roles in our project?

Ethical Dimension: As a research project, DMaaST falls under minimal risk for AI compliance, demonstrating its commitment to ethical research practices.

Let’s continue driving diversity and ethics in innovation! HOLOSS extends thanks to everyone who participated in this insightful session, and looks forward to future collaborations as we work towards building an equitable and ethical research community.
